Certainly streamers have been in the course of years some of the most used lures in fly fishing.

Nowadays people are using streamers for almost every kind of fish, from trout to salmon, to saltwater species.

With some exceptions they are designed to imitate forage fishes and the synthetic materials available today are allowing fly tiers around the world to create amazing works.

But from a mere tying style point of view I still love the old dressing of the past time.

Flies created by Mrs. Carrie Stevens, Preston Jennings, Charles Defeo (just to mention some of the most famous) have inspired generations of fly tiers.
